Fontomas is a web-based and open source project that allows us to combine any selected items from multiple iconic fonts to create a custom + lighter font. There are 3 built-in iconic fonts (Entypo, Iconic, Web Symbols). Within few steps (select any letters from the icons, re-arrange them), you get a new font.

The generated font is in SVG and web fonts can be produced from it using online generators like the one that FontSquirrel provides.

Texture King is a free texture resources website. Texture King allows you to use the textures they offer in whatever way you want, except sell or redistribute them. Textures are neatly organized with categories, available on every page on the left side.

The collection of textures available is fairly good, with around 100 textures as of writing. They are offered at 1600 x 1200 resolution. Texture King recently changed from zip file downloads to image downloads, so that should help you some more.

GIFPAL is a website that allows you to create free GIF animation. This website works by either using a webcam to take picture, or you can use pictures you have on your computer. One you have created your GIF animation you can download it from the website onto your computer. You can also save it on the website or upload it to the GIFPAL gallery.

Click some pictures using the web cam or upload some from your PC or Mac first. Then, go ahead and arrange them with cool effects. You can use up to 20 images to create 20 frames, and then animate them in any way you want.

LogotypeMaker is a site where you can create logos for free to go with any project you’re trying to complete. Logos to display on your own website, on your own blog, on your Facebook fanpage. Using a very intuitive interface. This lets you edit your logo right on your browser, until you’re 100% happy with the results.

Gradients and reflections can be applied, your logo can be outlined, and you can always upload and use your very own artwork. And at no point will you be requested to pay anything, not even when saving the finished logo to your HD. In fact, you can save it as a PDF or as a GIF, and you can also export it as a PDF.

JPEGmini is a patent-pending photo recompression technology, which significantly reduces the size of photographs without affecting their perceptual quality. The technology works in the domain of baseline JPEG, resulting in files that are fully compatible with any browser, photo software or device that support the standard JPEG format.

With JPEGmini you can store more photos on your hard drive and online photo service account, attach more photos to your emails, and upload your photos faster to the web. If you have an image-intensive website, your pages will load faster, and you’ll also reduce your storage and bandwidth costs.

This depends on the resolution and quality of the original photo. For high-quality, high resolution photos produced by digital cameras, you can expect a reduction of 50%-80% in file size.

PanoJS3 – An interactive JavaScript widget for panning and zooming a panoramic image stitched together dynamically from smaller tiles. This widget can be used for viewing images that are much larger than the available space in the browser viewport. Examples include panoramas, maps or high resolution document scans.

PanoJS3 supports all modern major web browsers: Chrome 3+, Safari 3+, FireFox 2+, Internet Explorer 8+ and Opera 9+.

The Leage of Moveable Type  A community for the revolution of free, professional, and open-source typography. They believe in sharing and promotes open source free font. They have released 15 Fresh Well Designed Open Source Font which available for public download. All fonts released by The League of Moveable Type are subject to SIL’s Open Font License which means that you are allowed to use all these font for both personal and commercial for free.

The League of Moveable Type came to life thanks to two designers, Caroline and Micah, to combat the limitations and raise the standards of the web. It features a collection of some of the highest-quality of typefaces I came across online in a very long time. As a user you are more than welcome to contribute, browse, download, and use the chosen typefaces for free as all of them are subject to SIL’s Open Font License (which means that you are allowed to use the fonts for either personal or commercial purposes as long as you give a credit to its original creator).

More recently Caroline and Micah discovered something called @font-face, an addition to user-friendly web styling that allows you to specify the location of your own font files instead of using the same old web-friendly typefaces. Furthermore, the website is there to offer you a selection of truly amazing fonts that you can easily download and use for any of your creations. Just another step in the needed revolution.

DrawBang takes you back in time a little bit by letting you draw 16 x 16 images with only 16 colors. You have the option to fill the background with one of the 16 colors or draw by simply dragging your mouse. Each image consists of two frames where you can make separate drawings and then combine them to create an animated image.

Your drawing can be saved by logging in with your Facebook account. You can also undo or redo any step and delete a drawing if its not to your liking. The app has a dead simple functionality and provides a really hassle-free way to draw simple images.

Subtle Patterns is a collection of 86 high quality design patterns for you to use freely. New patterns added weekly. A project by Atle Mo. The patterns can obviously be tiled and are not only made available as .png downloads, but the site also offers a Photoshop pattern file for all the patterns. Atle is a Danish designer and his subtle patterns projects is both wonderful and Free. You can browse the various patterns, preview them, download the one you wish to use or download them all.

Presently, the site has 86 patterns available for download, but you can also Submit your own pattern or support the project by making a donation.

The patterns in Subtle Patterns are high quality and tile-able too, ranging from fabric, leather to paper textures. You can download these goodies for free, by either download each pattern individually or download the Photoshop pattern file at the bottom of the page to use it directly in Photoshop. I think this website is really useful and will definitely use some of the patterns on the future design projects.

3Defy is a great demonstration of the most recent in Flash programming, at the very smallest amount, although there is a morsel of a knowledge arch.
